Miss Karrak’s sliding gate’s drive cable came unwound from its spool, and got all tangled up and frayed. The gate could no longer close all the way, and the cable was almost ready to snap.
We unplugged the operator and tried to release the cable, but it was too tangled even for a manual release. We ended up cutting it with a welding torch and then removing each half to let the gate slide close. We cleaned and oiled the spool, and then hooked up a new cable and wrapped it taut before connecting it to the gate. We reconnected the gate opener, and made sure there were no opening or closing issues before calling it done.
